How to program CR-850 to read RS-485?

Unilab Nov 2, 2022 03:54 PM
Dear friends,
How to program the CR-850 to read RS-485?

I use PC-400 and CR Basic software.

I have some weather stations and wind sensors that have a common RS-485 output.
I would like to know how to program to read this output and where to connect the sensor to the CR-850?

Thanks a lot for the help.

Wilson

In order to have a RS-485 sensor read by a CR850, you will need to have a MD-485 attached to the data logger via a CS I/O cable. Then you can use the Serial instructions to read the sensor attached.

You'll need an MD485 device to interface RS232 from the logger to RS485, e.g., using two control ports for RS232 Tx and Rx.  I don't know if they have a CR850x, but the CR1000x added direct support for RS485 via the control ports, whereas for the CR1000 an MD485 was required.

On CR1000 loggers we use SDM-SIO1A or SDM-SIO4A-might be an option too?

Yes, those modules work also.
