Email from CR300 via RF

PPeters May 15, 2023 02:48 AM

Hi,

I have a site with CR300-RF412 logger running a simple radra level site . This site had the rf comms link to a CR310-RF412 that was connected to LAN network. The CR310 logger had an email alert system for a local level sensor and also acted as a route for the CR300 logger..  Due to vandalism I have lost the CR310 logger and would like to simplify the monitoring and move the email warnings to the CR300 logger. The problem is I only have the RF radio link as a comms option on this site.

My plan was to create a new link site with an RF412 Radio connected to a modem (RUT955) on serial with potenatial LAN load balancing.

I am now investigating the Email send options from the CR300 Rf412 and would like some ideas as cant seem to find a way of directing the traffic via the radio..

IPRoute seemed like the most likely option but the RF modem is not an option..

Is this possible?

trying to avoid the need for a second logger at the link station and unfortunately upgrading the current CR300 is a difficult option as access is restricted

any ideas much appreciated

The first simple thing I have in mind is to use the RUT955 serial router connected directly to the CR300 site via the RS232 port and activate the internet connection via the PPP protocol

Thanks Smile... yeah in an ideal world i would set the site up with all the comms options but in this application the site has poor cell coverge, is mounted of the side of a bridge and needs rope access to service.. the beauty is with this install it has been working faultlessly for 4 years and reluctant to change

i still need the link so my PlanB might be a second logger (Cr310RF412) at the link and do call the data from the public table

cheers

Ok thanks......indeed I thought my solution was too simple :-).

Do you need to take measurements on the second site? if no, could you just use a second radio to make a virtual serial cable and use the RS232 port of the RUT955 to do the PPP?

I can't test this and I don't know if there is a PPP option via the logger's internal radio.

It is certain that you will be able to communicate remotely with the CR300 with the second radio but without PPP the CR300 does not know that it is on the internet and will not be able to send alarm emails.

I understand that you need to find a solution without going back to the first site?

My initial plan is to activate the internet connection using the PPP protocol and use the RUT955 serial router that is directly connected to the CR300 site via the RS232 port. geometry dash
